McCammon's Top 10

Ways to Use the Internet in Your Classroom

1.  What would you want to know in an instant about YOUR child's class?  Make a list and this is the stuff that you should post on your website.

2.  Make students' grade available online using gradekeeper or other gradebook program.

3.  Make it simple and friendly.  Nobody wants to 'hunt' for what they're are looking for.

4.  Post your course syllabus.  It should be the corner stone of your class, so it should be online.

5.  Post your curriculum map and even use hyperlinks to other files.

6.  Even one computer can be used if you divide your class into groups.  Here's how I divide into groups (for example):

Science Station #1 - Computer Activities

Science Station #2 - Art Station

Science Station #3 - Wet lab Station

Science Station #4 - Vocabulary Station

Students rotate through these stations every few weeks.

7.  When you can, use internet tests.  Exam View makes this REALLY easy.

8.  Check out the website for your textbook!  They have LOTS of good stuff usually for free or with the purchase of your textbook.  They spend lots of money on this stuff!  Check this out for example!  Look at all the resources:  Online test, web links, Internet BioLabs, Interactive tutorials, news links!!!  Use your textbook webpage!

9.  Making and maintaining your web page can be tedious and frustrating.  DON'T give up!  It is worth it for the kids and parents!

10.  Convert all your word files to html by simply changing "Save as type" from "Word Document" to "Web Page."  Convert your Power point notes to html the same way.

HAVE FUN AND HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH YOUR WEB PAGES!!!
